Discovery Notes | The soil sample was taken just outside Russell Hall at the University of Mary Washington. The weather on the day of the sampling was clear, very warm, and sunny with few clouds. The soil itself was dry and sandy with a tan color and was not very rich. The soil was collected about one inch below the the ground. |
Naming Notes | The phage was named after a good friend of mine at school. We quickly became very good friends at the beginning of the year and I would easily consider him family. When the day of naming the phage came along, I asked him how he felt about me naming my phage after one of the famous nicknames his friends back home called him. He was all for it, hence I named my phage Big Spicy. |

Plaque Notes | The plaques that came out of isolating my phage were decently sized, with each being somewhere around 0.1-0.2 cm in diameter. They were generally fairly circular and not oddly shaped. The edges of the plaques were clear for the most part with a few having what was almost like a "halo" surrounding them. |
