Discovery NotesCollection site was near the water of Lake Linganore within the village Lake Linganore, Maryland. Soil taken at a location that was 20 feet from the nearest walkway/trail, where the soil began to merge/overlap with the sand surrounding the water and 5-10cm deep below the surface. The outdoor conditions listed as follows: temperature - 75 degrees F, dark/nightime, and relatively humid. The collection time was 9:00pm at night. There was no rain the day before or the day of soil collection.
Naming NotesOur phage are the descendants of bacteriophages that were found on the beach. In a sense, they were sons of a beach. Thus, we named our bacteriophage the sonofabeach.
