Discovery Notes | Collection site was near the water of Lake Linganore within the village Lake Linganore, Maryland. Soil taken at a location that was 20 feet from the nearest walkway/trail, where the soil began to merge/overlap with the sand surrounding the water and 5-10cm deep below the surface. The outdoor conditions listed as follows: temperature - 75 degrees F, dark/nightime, and relatively humid. The collection time was 9:00pm at night. There was no rain the day before or the day of soil collection. |
Naming Notes | Our phage are the descendants of bacteriophages that were found on the beach. In a sense, they were sons of a beach. Thus, we named our bacteriophage the sonofabeach. |
